Nanny McPhee
A wonderful wonderful film to watch... Based on the Nurse Matilda books by Christianna Brand... this movie revolves around Mr. Cedric Brown (Colin Firth) and his ill-behaved 7 children... who are actually just rebelling against their father whom they believe have forgotten them after the death of their mother... Mr. Brown however much he loved his children had more than the behaviour of his children in mind as he stands to lose his financial support from Aunt Adelaide, his late-wife's aunt... unless he married again... After the children masterminded the deaprture of the 17th nanny, there was no other nanny left except for Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson) who arrives mysteriously to help Mr. Brown... The children work their usual mischief to try to get rid of Nanny McPhee but she is no usual nanny... Using her witty tactics she manages to "tame" the children as well as win them over and help Mr. Brown realise how little attention he had paid to his children recently... as the children learned to behave... Nanny McPhee transform from an ugly woman with warts to a kind faced nanny... Never the less Mr. Brown, in desperation, decides to marry a horrid woman... and after explaining to his children of their situation, they decided to give her a chance... But on the wedding day... the soon-to-be Mrs. Brown made her intentions very clear that she was not fond of the children... After that there was no way they would let their father marry her... and with a little help from Nanny McPhee... they turned everything around... and true emotions emerge as Mr. Brown and Evangeline, the household servant girl, confessed they were in love with each other... and hence the job of Nanny McPhee was done...

I really enjoyed the movie... fun, funny, and magical... the screenplay was well written by Emma Thompson as it flowed well with no draggy parts and wonderfully humoured... only thing which I think lacked a little was the development of the relationship between Mr. Brown and Evangeline... But the movie would have been great to watch over the Christmas holiday... really warming movie... you learn to love Nanny McPhee as the Brown children do... and of course also addresses the very important matter of the need for both parents and children to listen to each other... I loved it when Nanny McPhee appears out of nowhere all of a sudden and she claims "I did knock"... it's so cute... Definitely recommended... Cheers...
