The National Gallery of Victoria is currently showcasing a Picasso collection "Picasso: Love & War (135-1945) which basically explores the personal and artistic relationship between Pablo Picasso and hislover of those years, Dora Maar... Over 300 works from both Picasso and Maar are being displayed from 30 June - 8 October 2006... I for one have never been a Picasso fan mainly because I'm not a fan of abstract-ish art... but I have to say... it was good... interesting... the art was very intense in a sense that it was basically as emotionally disturbed as the war that was breaking out at the time, which he was caught in... Admissions are $20 adult, $16 concession, and there are other events going on as well...
There is also a really great exhibition of Rembrandt's prints and drawings... now this collection I LOVE!!! I absolutely love Rembrandt, even though he has recently been claimed to be narcissistic by critics... he's so brilliant... The exhibition will go through till 24 September 2006... admission is free...Labels: exhibition |
