| Pray For Me...

Hey hey... it's been so long... my gosh... anyway... no no... I'm not dying... well sorta... I'm about to sit for my Finals on Monday... pray that I do well kay... 95 TER and above... please please.... *fingers crossed*... I'm so tension now... can you believe that I've been spending the whole week in the college library??? I bet not... Bet you think that I wouldn't even bother... well yeah it's not like me is it... but I've changed my studying habits this year... I actually work... some what... hard for my exams... I don't know but I feel like I'm putting in 5 times as much as I did for SPM... but SPM was cheeselar... considering people like me can get 10 As... anyone can as well... furthermore I didn't even study that much... guess it's cause of tuition... but I only took for Chem and Phys for a month... terrible... sigh... okay so wish me luck... I'm off...

| Time Flies...
|
I can't believe that the year has passed by so fast... In a week I will be sitting for my SAM finals and after that it will be officially over... It feels like it was just yesterday that I was feeling rather glum that I was placed into a class where I knew no one... I know that sounds childish but I missed my close friends from high school and thinking that I would not be able to see them again was painful... I still remember how I felt on the first day of college... it was just like the first day of kindergarten, the first day of primary school and the first day of high school... I had butterflies in my stomach... fearing that I would trip and fall or something like that and become the joke of the college... But to my relief... I manage to make it through the day without any "tragedies"... But... I didn't even talked to anyone else in my class... The next day was slightly better... initially I sat alone at the front corner of the class but to my luck... someone who in the end turned out to be a very helpful and "interesting" friend, Yan Zhen came and sat next to me... My first college friend... of course I began to know more of the people in the class... what more I was elected treasurer of the class... I know the class just wanted to dump the responsibility on someone and it had to be me... For quite sometime Yan Zhen and I were seperated from the class... we didn't really bother to mix with the class all that much until another very interesting friend came along... she didn't stay long but I would say that she made all the difference... Soon it was her, Yan Zhen, Melissa, Li Chin and I... Even so... I still didn't really consider them as friends... but can anyone blame me... a few months doesn't really make someone your friend... but of course that all changed with time... got to know the guys in my class better as well... some more than others... Now classes are officially over... I didn't really realise it until I got back from the last day... and thought back... I had some really great times with my friends and my class... the class lunches together... ice-cream... rojak... skipping classes... general meetings... it was a great year... I only wish that we didn't have to be seperated so quickly... I know if those who know me well are reading this... they would be thinking... Wan Tse... so emotional... no way... but yes way... I miss everyone already... and I miss my high school friends even more... everyone's got their own thing now... and next year it will be even harder to get together... I don't know whether the year has made much impact on me but if it did... it all happened in a blink of an eye...

| THE Malaysian Idol!!!!
|
Ok... so as I've said in the previous entry that the Grand Finale was spectacular, and the result show was great as well... we got to see two rather 'important' characters from the earlier part of the season namely Julian and erm I can't remember the name of the other guy but he's hilarious... and of course the other finalist came back as well... and OH MY GOSH... Andrew looked soooooo gorgeous... and this time his singing improved and he wasn't as stiff actually he wasn't stiff at all... I rather like the duet he did with Vick... Vick has grown on me., I don't hate him as much... hahaha... But seriously I could melt seeing Andrew... so cute and with the nice hair!!! I'm going to faint... anyway... the Jac and Dina did another duet... some Malay song which I don't know the title and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"... and of course the 1st MALAYSAN IDOL is... Jaclyn 'Jac' Victor!!!!! AHHHHH... I'm so happy and proud... Malaysia has a star...!!!! I'm really glad she got it... I would have been very upset if she didn't... hahaha... yeah... so... a great ending to compensate the not so good Finals... Bravo to the people who make it happen... 8TV, the great people who brought the Idol to Malaysia... TM Net for the great advertisments with the nice songs... ;P!!!! Here's to Jac!!! Cheers mate, make us proud!!!

| Malaysian Idol Grand Finale
|
What a great spectacle it was... despite the disappointing sound system, the bad acoustics of the hall and the loud music and audience (Malaysian audience should learn to keep their mouths shut during performances...) drowning out stunning performances... it was an absolutely stunning night of great talent... the night was kick started off by Dina, who won the coin toss, with the new single specially penned for the 1st ever Malaysian Idol entitled "Gemilang" (meaning brilliance)... both Roslan and Kak Ji liked the performance while Paul thought it was a solid performance it didn't have the bang he was waiting for... then Jac started off her night with the judges' pick "Tunggu Sekejap", the late great Tan Sri P. Ramlee song she sang in one of the Finals... the judges loved it... After that, it was back to Dina who sang the song of her choice "Jelingan Manja"... again Roslan and Kak Ji thought it was good but Paul thinks that it wasn't enough... Jac then sang her choice as well "When I Fall In Love"... the judges went nuts over it, Paul even congratulated her for singing it in a different style than before... so far Jac is 'ahead on points'... Dina's last performance was "Hit 'Em Up Style", the judges' pick... this time the only Roslan though it was ok... the other two thought she needed more... lastly Jac sang the new single "Gemilang"... and being the great performer that she is... she made the song hers and it was clear that she owned the stage and the night itself... it was a SPECTACULAR performance... personally I loved her rendition of the song and so did the judges... the surprise of the night came at the end when Jac and Dina did a duet for the closing, they sang "I Believe I Can Fly"... it was indeed a great might for Malaysian Idol and what seems to be the beginning of a new era for the Malaysian music industry... I'm all for Jac (pray and hope)!!! Cheers...

| Re-review of Sky Captain
|
You know... at first I really thought that there wasn't anything really special about Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow even though I enjoyed the movie... but after watching "The Making Of..." I was really impressed... what's really amazing about the movie is the 'talent' of the director and the actors themselves... these actors acted with absolutely no props, no backgrounds, no idea where everything is... is like giving you a blank paper and asking you to read from it... WHAT GENIUS!!! The whole thing was just 'filling in the blanks'... and later piecing them together... and I rather enjoyed the humour... the 'tension' between Joe and Polly was great... absolutely in love but yet hating each other... of course I'm a big fan of Gwyn and Jude!!! Cheers...

| Malaysian Idol Finals Week 8
|
The Final 3... The contestants once again sang an English song and a Malay song each... Vick's better performance was I Believe by Fantasia Barrino... I think his performance rather good, he managed to carry the song... but he mostly ruined his chances when he sang Belaian Jiwa... every Malaysian's top 10 song... Dina did relatively well in both her songs... Christina Aguilera's I Turn To You and Anita Sarawak's Seksis... while Jac didn't do her very best with her Malay song Teringin, she blew the crowd away with her rendition of Alicia Keys's If I Ain't Got You... even Paul said: "The way you sing it is just so cool!"... Well... came time to vote... I think the Malaysians are beginning to think before they vote... Anyway... as most of us have expected... Vick was voted out... he lost out by 0.1% (I think... or was it 1%)... either way it was Dina who edged out by a crack... Jac took home majority of the votes... So now it's down to the FINAL TWO!!!! The Malaysian Idol Finals Final will be held in Genting's Arena of Stars on the 8th October... So DON'T MISS IT!!!! Cheers...

| New Story... New Creation...
|
Well within the week I managed to watch 2 new movies: one is the come back of a very famous line of a Chinese movie and the other is a new sort of masterpiece... They are Jackie Chan's New Police Story (V) and Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow...
Okay... if you're an Asian Chinese... you would have at one point heard of the Police Story series... they were very famous movies by Jackie Chan and now the fifth one is out... So the story begins by telling what happened some time ago... Chan (Jackie) was leading a 9 man squad of SDU officers to capture a band terrorists/robbers... However he soon finds himself out-smarted and out-witted by the young offenders and all of his men we captured and tied to the roof of the building... The offenders challenge him one by one in what they call 'games' which tests his skills as a police officer i.e. gun assembling and un-armed combat... Every time they challenged him they would wager a few of the SDU squad members... but as he kept losing... the squad members were dropped one by one from the roof to the bottom of the building and die... the last challenge was a 20 second combat where one of the offender had to defeat Chan in combat... 4 people were wagered...Chan managed to defeat the offender but 3 seconds too late... so one officer was dropped per second late... the last officer left was Chan's future brother in-law... Chan could not stand it anymore grabbed his gun and started shooting... the offenders ran out but not before lighting the rope that Chan's brother in-law was hanging from, on fire... Chan tried to save him but in the end it was not successful and even though the building was about to blow up, he used a push cart to drag the squad's bodies out... after that incident... he blamed himself for the death of his squad and he was forced to take a 'year's vacation'... during which he became a drunkard and avoided his girlfriend... but then came a young guy named Frankie (Nicholas Tse) who claimed that me was officer PC1667 his new assigned partner, asked to crack his previous case... Chan however did not bother and wanted nothing to do with the police... but after a few incidents Chan finally came to his senses and with the help of SaSa (Charlene Choi of Twins), a young police woman working in the Technology Department who was befriended by Frankie, the truth begins to unfold that the group of terrorists were comprised of young rich men's children lead by Joe Kwan (Daniel Wu) son of a the head of a police division... It turns out that Joe was badly abused by his father from young and grew hatred towards policemen... they then manage to locate a man who could give them some information... he was an old buddy of Chan's, a police who became head of a gang... however they find out that that man was the cause of the death of the 9 men SDU squad... the ex-cop was forced to blurt out some information to the terrorists because he owned them some money and he died soon after telling Chan that... after that Chan was determined to avenge his fellow policemen's tragic deaths... He went after one of the gang members but because that guy shot a bus driver… Chan had to go after the run away bus instead which soon becomes a crazy ‘bus chase’ which destroyed a lot of things… but he managed to save the bus… Joe and gang later found out that Chan had a girlfriend Ho Yee... So he set up another ‘game’ for Chan… he manage to get Ho Yee to the Police Headquarters and strap on a bomb… Chan reaches the police station only to find a tricky kind of bomb which involved balancing ball-bearings and had the task of defusing the bomb… not wanting to hurt anyone… Chan with the help of Frankie moved the bomb and Ho Yee to another room while the Police Headquarters was evacuated… then Chan kicked Frankie out of the room and locked himself and Ho Yee in… Ho Yee took the opportunity to tell him that she did not blame him for her brother’s death and it had hurt her to see him in the state that he was after that incident… she then asked him if he loved her and he told her that in this life and the next, he would love her... Then one of the bomb experts told him that he could chemically freeze the bomb through the PA system... so Chan ran out to get the chemicals... but after he ran out... Ho Yee took a scissors and began cutting through the wires... Frankie saw what was happening and warned Chan through the PA system... at the moment he reached back to the room, Ho Yee cut the wires... to everyone's surprise the bomb did not explode... so Chan and Ho Yee began to leave the room but as they do so he noticed that the wire was still attached and asked Ho Yee not to move but it was too late and the bomb began to count down at rapid speed... Chan grabbed Ho Yee and ran for it... the bomb exploded and Ho Yee was hurt as some pillars fell on her... she was sent to the hospital... Even though Chan saved her... he was arrested because we wasn't suppose to be on this case and Frankie was arrested as well for posing as a cop (Frankie had always wanted to be a cop... he tried out at the academy before but because his father was a thief, he was not accepted)... However Chan was determined to get Joe and gang even more after the incident with Ho Yee... so they seek the help of SaSa... SaSa started making some noise and commenting that her dad said that becoming a cop was noble but what was happening was injustice so she would quit the next day... then the cop on watch said he was going to the toilet but it was actually just an excuse as the dropped his keys on purpose on his way out and SaSa kicked the key to them as she went after (her father) the man on duty... then Chan and Frankie crept out but the bumped into the head of the departemtn who turned back and went back into his office as if nothing had happened... as the continued they stumbled on a trash can and it tipped over making a loud noise right in front of the police office... everyone stopped for a while but went back to their own business as if they did not hear anything... after another hurdle they managed to get out... the met SaSa who was leading a team of tech experts to win an online game to find out where Joe and his gang would strike next... which was the Bank of hong Kong (in the Convention Center)... when they reached there the bank was already taken over... Chan and Frankie stopped the SDU squad from going in and the two of them took on Joe and his gang... they managed to defeat everyone but Joe got away to the roof... there Frankie was captured and tied where Joe threatened to drop him (which was a long way down)... Joe challenged Chan to see who assembled a gun faster (the same challenge as the previous time)... this time Chan out-smarted Joe and finished first... as the roof began to fill the roof... Joe had no choice but to give up... suddenly his father appears and started scoulding him with foul language like "you bastard", "useless son" and "son of a b****" just like how he has alwasy scoulded him... the truth was Joe hated his father not cops and he hated himself... he was very upset that his father always looked down on him... he took out the bullet from his gun... only Chan now this... and as Joe held the gun towards his father he was shot... Joe died... Frankie started fallingand Chan dived after him... they were saved... at the end... Chan proposed to Ho Yee again after she recovered from the bombing incident with the help from the police staff and the hospital staff as well... she agreed... then Chan remembered something that had happened a long time ago... (Flash back) There was a man and his son... his son was starving and the father had no money... so the father stole some bread and as he ran out of the store he shouted to the son to run... but he didn't move... as the father crossed the road... he was knocked down by a truck and was killed... the police officers who were chasing the father kicked the body and insulted him but a younger Chan told them that even offenders deserve respect... Chan explained to the son that somethings in life are just not fair and that he should forget about the past and move on... to become someone good in the future... the son was Frankie... I thought the movie wasn't that good but I'm a huge fan of Nic's... so it doesn't matter but it's an OK show overall... the relationships part of the story was quite touching... love and father-son relationship... But I really loved Nic's character he was so cute... and Charlene was quite funny as well...
As for Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow... there have been quite some hype over this movie as it is the first live action animation movie... meaning the actors are real but the background are aminated... The story starts off where a scientist, Dr. Vargas requests that a note be sent to another scientist Dr. walter Jennings... and after that he vanished... a reporter on the case Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) get a tip or two to meet someone for some information on who would vanish next... when she met up with the man... it was Dr. Jennings that told her a man, Totanchof (I have no idea how to spell it...) was after him and he was the next target... at that moment there was a big commotion happening as if there was a big earthquake... after that Dr. Jennings vanished as well and Polly made her way out to the streets only to find that there we gigantic, strange creatures roaming and flying over the city creating havoc... being the determined reporter she decided not to run away but instead chase these creatures (robots) for a picture or two to use with her report... something she just can't resist... but she soon finds that she had bitten off more than she could chew... that was until Sky Captain who answered a distress call for help and saved the day... from the airplane Sky Captain knew that the person on the ground was Polly and Polly knew it was Sky Captain (aka Joe/ Joseph Sullivan) (Jude Law)... When Joe got back to his base... he was greated by Dex his friend and assistant who is technology savvy... Joe told Dex to work on the piece of robot and find out how it ticks... The Joe got a surprise in his office... Polly... he wasn't pleased as she had sabotaged his plane three years ago causing him to be held hostage in a Machurian slave camp for 6 months... Polly denied it and insisted he made it up to cover up his affair with some girl in Nanjing... which he denied as well... as he told her to leave she took out out a piece of blueprint of the robots which she picked up when she met up with Dr. Jennings... as Joe really wanted the blueprints he made a deal with her... the blueprints for a story of the robots... The plot thickens when Joe explained to Polly that attacks by the robots have been happening for a long time but only in small scales in remote areas until now... Polly explained about the meeting with Dr. Jennings and about Totanchof... he was like an invisible man... she could only find that he ran a secret science unit (Unit 11) outside of Berlin before the start of WW1... the last time his name was heard of was 30 years ago... Polly and Joe then went to Dr. Jennings lab to find out what they could dig up... the place was ransacked... they found Dr. Jennings hurt and a strange person who was rummaging through his things escaped, Joe went after her... in the other room, with his last breath Dr. Jennings told Polly that if Totanchof found 'them' the world will end, in his hands were two metal test tubes (or something like that)... Polly decided not to tell Joe about it... just then the city alarm rang and they headed back to the base... When they got back Joe and Polly got on his fighter plane to combat the incoming robots again... Through tracking the signals sent by the robots, Dex manage to locate the place their instructions were coming from but just then the robots came crashing in and Dex was trapped... After defeating the robots, Joe went back to base only to find Dex being taken away... but Dex left them an indication of where the robots were from... And so Joe and Polly set off to find Dex... They find out that Totanchof had been rumoured to be planning something about doom's day and his companion, who controlled Totanchof's machines, was the person who took Dex... They reach Nepal where they meet up with an old friend of Joe's, Khaji... They then trace the place that Dex had left for them to somewhere called Shambala (or something like that), a forbidden place in between Nepal and Tibet... After tracking up some snowy mountains, they find themselves in a abandoned mine contaminated with Uranium... here one of Khaji's henchmen threatened to kill Polly for the metal test tubes... she had no choice but to give them away... Joe was angry that she had lied to him... but they were locked in a safe filled with dynamites which were lighted... however they managed to escape in the nick-of-time... but they all fainted... when they woke up they were naked and in a bed... actually they were saved by the tibetan monks and their clothes were burnt becasue they were contaminated by the uranium in the mine... with the help of the monks... they find out how to look for Totanchof but Joe calculates that his plane would run out of fuel before the reach the location so he sent a morse message to his friend Commander Frank (aka Frankie) Cooke (Angelina Jolie) who commands some kind of landing strip/aircraft... With the help of Frankie they make it into Totanchof's hideout... When they entered, they were greeted by Totanchof's machines but were saved by Dex who had managed to escape... They went seacrhing for Totanchof... when they found him they realise he was dead but his project was machine runned so it never stopped and his project was to create a 'Noah's Arc' to send to outer space becasue he believed that humanity was doomed and once the rocket leaves the earth's atmosphere the earth will be blown to pieces... The only way to stop the rocket was to disengage it from inside but they will not be able to escape... of course Joe decides to do it... Polly wanted to go along but Joe will not allow it... he kissed her, knocked her out and left... However, Polly manages to wake up in time and follows Joe... They get into the rocket and manage to disengage it and also get out in time saving all of humanity... I like the movie because of the classic movie feel of it like those old time detective movies mixed with sci-fi action and some good animation... it's good...
