Malaysian Idol Finals Week 3
This week's theme was the 80s... oh I forgot to mention that last week's was classics... but if you as me they are about the same... sheesh... though this week was quite terrible... really sad... Anyway the bottom 3 were Zamil, Victor and Dina (Big shocker!! since she's quite good...) but only one left this week and that is Victor... in a way I'm rather glad coz he wasn't that good... but I'd rather Saipul had left first... But what the heck just as long as Jac's still there... Cheers mate!!

Once a Malaysian... Always a Malaysian...
I came across a newspaper article written on what makes Malaysians unique… The ‘Merdeka Spirit’ is really flying around isn’t it? Well National Day is coming soon no doubt Malaysian is going around shouting how proud they are to be one… Anyway… interviews were carried out with some young Malaysians and some people who migrated to Malaysia (or KL) to work and to summarise it… Malaysians have big appetites… having to eat six meals a day (breakfast, brunch, lunch, high tea, dinner, supper) and food on our minds 24/7 especially notably mamak style food… nasi lemak, Maggi goring, kopi-o… and the ever so popular “teh tarik satu”… which comes along with uniquely mamak style of ordering food and asking for the bill… “Kopi-o ais (iced coffee)”, “limau ‘bing’ kurang manis (iced lime juice with less sugar)” and “kira boss (check please)”… Our speech is also a giveaway… using bad grammar like “Why you eat so many food?”… including suffixes like “lah”, “mah”, “loh” into every sentence possible… and speaking ‘rojak’ (in mixed languages)… “Kenapa you so lambat?”, “Why you so lanci?”, “I don’t want to layan you!”… Malaysian are also compulsive law-breakers… having to make u-turns where legal and illegal, talking on the phone (hand-held) when driving, double or triple parking… We are also glued to the TV whenever there’s a reality program going on… Akademi Fantasia, Malaysia Idol, American Idol, The Amazing Race, Survivor… Another solely Malaysian characteristic is our habit of being ‘kiamsiap’ (selfish)… we are always complaining about how expensive things are and bargaining with shopkeepers for lower prices… “Wah, damn expensive wei. Can die!”… preferring to park on the road where it is illegal than pay RM1 for legal and shaded parking… Then when we get a fine for the illegal parking… we plead and beg the officer to let us go… giving him a little ‘incentive’ to help the pleading along or tell him a sob story to reduce the fine… The one thing we cannot forgo… S-A-L-E… the word which causes traffic congestions on weekends and claustrophobic environment within the shopping department… BEWARE… Malaysians generally have bad road manners… horning for every little matter, shouting foul words and showing ‘hand-signals’ when the someone else horns us… and not wanting to give way to one another even to emergency vehicles… and also one very weird thing about Malaysians is that we are extremely superstitious… we can deny it all we want but we know what to do and what not to do to avoid ‘bad luck’… But there are also some very good things about Malaysia and Malaysians… Students are extremely hardworking… always striving to score the best… it may be considered ‘kiasu’ (scared to lose)… but I think it’s a good quality as long as you don’t have to sacrifice anything or anyone… Relatively well mannered and friendly most of the time… most Malaysians would lend a hand when it is called for and supportive of the government… always willing to give directions even when they don’t know the correct way… And where else go you get so many holidays and all the different races and religions celebrating together… sure we may sometimes have our differences and misunderstandings… but we always somehow manage to pull through… So… undeniably… Malaysians are distinct and unique… but should we be proud of that?! Not necessarily… However… I myself rather love Malaysia… I wish I wasn’t but I am typically Malaysian… Hahaha… Selamat Hari Merdeka… Cheers…

Malaysian Idol Finals Week 2
Well... I have to say that this week's performances were better and more convincing but there's still need for improvement in some of these people... But never the less... two must leave and the two are Rydee and Fahmy... I have to say that Malaysian made a rather reasonably choice... Fahmy was getting boring with his sappy, slow, heartbreaking Malay songs... but for Rydee... I think it was just unfortunate that she never managed to show her true potential... I think she should have stayed slightly longer... Oh well... 1c out...

M'sian Disgrace... Malaysian Idol Finals Week 1
First week of the finals... and very disappointing... Well there were the good ones... there were the average but a few of them are just PLAIN BAD!!!!! I'm so very disppointed at them... especially Saipul and Victor who are just 'pretty faces' if you can even call them that... But they weren't kicked out... I don't know what Malaysians see in them... anyway... so who got kicked out?? Well... the bottom three were Rydee, Fazli and Sufiah... and the two latter were kicked out... so yeap that's the update for this week... Out...

Tequila Shot Hangover
Ok… so Discovery is currently showing some stuff related to everyday life… personally I’m very interested in these kinda things so… today’s topic will be ALCOHOL (Ethanol, CH3CH2OH for science students) and the HANGOVER effect… so for those who have gotten hungover… you’d know what it feels like… and for those heavy drinkers… well laugh all you want but you don’t even know that your body is turning into shit… but for those of us who have not had much experience in the drinking part itself such as myself… well we’ve all heard of the many stories of drinking too much and getting a hangover the next day and of course the flirting and aggressive behaviour which comes free compliments of alcohol… But what’s the truth behind all this… well… you might think that… “Just one glass of beer fine”… but the truth is the moment you finish your first glass (no matter the size) of alcohol… your brain signals start to change… Firstly… let’s see how alcohol behaves… alcohol actually has analgesic properties where it acts like anaesthetic… in fact… alcohol was used as anaesthetic in the old days where they did not have the ones they use now… anyway what it does is it sedates our body and when too much is taken… it causes a feel of euphoric… which gives us the high feeling… Generally… we get ‘wasted’ after 5-6 glasses of alcohol… And what happens next?… Well… we all know that a tad bit too much of alcohol makes us a bit woozy rite well it’s cause the alcohol disrupts the correct signal sent by the brain and creates false readings of balance in the inner ear at the semi-circular canals… hence causing us to feel dizzy… Have you ever wondered why people always cannot remember what happened the night before when they were drunk?… when there’s too much alcohol in the body… it causes an imbalance in the brain chemicals and stops the memory production of our brains… As alcohol has NO pros (except for wine…)… let’s see what negative effects this vicious drug unleashes upon our body when we have had too much to drink… no.1... I don’t know how… but somehow alcohol actually damages our bones… making it brittle and hard to heal if we get injured… no.2... bad news for men… high alcohol content actually causes a deficiency of testosterone and even preventing ejaculation… after a long period of time… the man would just become infertile and even feminise due to the lack of testosterone… which shrinks the shoulders and expands the pelvis… hence the getting fatter… no.3... When alcohol level reaches .200%… death is possible… this is due to the fact that alcohol stops the brain from sending messages to the lungs and after awhile it just stops… no.4... bad news for women… it has been found that women’s stomach don’t actually metabolise alcohol and goes straight to the liver… where if a man and a woman of the same weight had the same amount of alcohol… the woman would register an alcohol level of 1/3 higher than the man… and so women who drink a lot are more prone to liver disease, heart attack and brain damage… On average… it takes about an hour for the liver to breakdown 1 glass of alcohol… This substance also makes people delusional… Hahaha… neh just playing… but people who are drunk always feel that they are just fine but statistics tell otherwise… alcohol contributes in 50% of murders, 40% of all assaults, 30% of emergency hospital admission, 25% of falls, 30% of drowning, 50% of road accidents and about 1600 alcohol related deaths a year amongst college students… Well now that you know how bad it is to drink and well… just plain drinking alcohol is bad enough… just a sip or 2 will do ei… hahahah… Cheers… ;P

Malaysian Idol Prelimenaries... Final 3 Through...
Ok... so we finally have it... the final three who are through to the Malaysian Idol Finals... From the Wilcard: Sufiah... don't really like her personally... Nikki... good potential but a bit stiff and very undeveloped talent... she does not know what to do with what she has and cannot convey her feelings through her song... and lastly the extremely lucky Rydiana... she's one heck of a lucky girl... given 3 second chances now... unique voice... husky type... good for R&B... but it's personally not my style... so we'll just have to see what happens next... my pick for MI stands at Jac... But what about you?? Cheers...

Malaysia Idol... vs. Catwoman...
Ok... I haven't written anything on Malaysian Idol as yet... So far the workshop rounds are over... the wild card will be annouced on Sunday (tommorow)... So who's through already??? Let me tell you... this is the overview of what I think... From Wokshop 1: Ahmad Zamil... not a too bad singer... but I don't think his voice is up to Idol standard... Faradinal... I like her... she's quite good... has potential... Vick... too boyband for Idol... people say he's a rather good singer with good looks well... I say he's anything but... Next... Workshop 2: Andrew... hmmm well... he has a rather interesting voice but he's too stiff and no charisma at all... needs to work hard if he wanna stay in the competition... Fazdli... interesting guy... has his own style... but I don't think he's Idol type... Victor... another so called goo singer with good looks... ahem I don't think so... Next... Workshop 3: Jac... the coolest contestant... the talent and charisma is definitely there... Malaysia's version of Fantasia maybe... has got great stage presence with her own style... Fahmy... well... I think he's voice is just average... but I love the song he sang... if anyone knows it please mail me or something and tell me... something about 'Kisah Kita Berakhir di Januari...' or something... Saipul... ohmygosh... I dunno wat's so good about him... actually his voice is ok but I don't know... he doesn't have the ummpphh... but I dunno I could be wrong... As for the wildcard... it's tough to call... almost all were quite good... better than previous... but I might say Rydee and Nikki maybe... Actually in the beginning... it was interesting at all... it was rather bad producing and video editing... and the show wasn't half as entertaining as American Idol... but now I think things are beginning to change... I reallt hope that MI will bring out some really good talents from Malaysia... we really need it... My pick for Malaysian Idol currently is Jac... she's great... But my definition of Malaysian Idol would be: talented, versatile, charismatic, good stage presence, friendly, good command of both English and Malay but Eng more important for marketing, has her own style, and sings with personality and passion... I think it's really important to have passion... if not he/she will fade from the industry easily... But he what do I know??? I'm just me... Watch it for yourself Malaysians, every Friday night and 10pm on 8tv and repeat on Sunday at 12pm on tv3... results at 10pm on 8tv and repeat on Monday on tv3 at 7pm... watch and vote!!! Make the differance... if not... we'd probably end up with some lousy Idol... Ok?? Next... ok well... I just got back from One Utama after watching Catwoman... My personal view?? I think it is better than Spiderman 1... but a bit fake... However... the great thing about the movie I would say is... Halle Berry... the kickass chick... and also that the movie keeps moving and keeps the audience interested not like Spiderman where they keep prolonging everything and making it so longwinded... Catwoman was straight to thepoint... I would recommand for all movie goers but maybe not for guys... Cheers...
